- main idea
- title, abstract, introduction
- read the section and subsection headings, but ignore others
- glance at the math content
- read the conclusion
- glance over references
- last: answer five Cs:
- category
- context
- correctness
- contribution
- clarity
If your write a paper, take care of above main part
2nd pass
- carefully look at the figuires, diagrams. Pay attention to graphs, axes, labels, bars
- mark relevant references
3rd pass
- follow author and reproduce
